Today, the concert hall of the Volga Region State Academy of Physical Culture, Sports, and Tourism hosted a large-scale closing ceremony of the Tatarstan WorldSkills Competition, which took place on the republic’s grounds on February 1-3. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov.
The stage of the hall saw over a thousand finalists: veterinarians and young EMERCOM experts, medics, bakers and designers, all those who is now raising the prestige of skilled trades with their work: all in all, 75 competencies of the basic competition and 25 ones of the children's competition.
Summarising the events, Minister of Education and Science of Tatarstan Engel Fattakhov noted the huge contribution of the republic's leadership to the support of the WorldSkills movement, such as the allocation of resources, creation of a training base. All the major employers in the republic joined the Competition: Tatneft, Nizhnekamskneftekhim, as well as machine-building enterprises, farmers, and builders. For them, the Competition became a platform for preparing the much-wanted personnel.

The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade approved a Plan for the elaboration and updating of the industries’ development strategies for 2017-2018.
In the first quarter of 2017, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade plans to prepare the development strategies for transport engineering, metallurgy, rehabilitation-oriented industrial products. In the second quarter, the corresponding programme documents will be prepared for the development of agricultural machinery, children's goods industry, handling, recycling, and disposal of industrial and consumption waste.
In June this year, the development strategy of the machine tool industry for the period up to 2030 will be submitted for the government approval. Implementation of this strategy is intended for lessening the critical dependence of the domestic machine tool industry from imported components. Before the end of the year, the development strategies should be further elaborated for the aviation industry, food machinery, folk arts, and crafts.
In 2018, the updated strategic planning documents will appear for heavy and power engineering, light industry, shipbuilding, electronics, medical, pharmaceutical, and other industries.
On February 3, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov held this year's first meeting of the Organising Committee of the Best Goods and Services of Tatarstan contest.
The Organising Committee took a decision to hold the fourteenth contest of the Best Goods and Services of Tatarstan. Its winners will be nominated for the federal stage of the 100 Best Goods of Russia Programme. The winners and 1st degree diploma recipients are granted the right to use the contest logo to label their products.
The Best Products and Services of Tatarstan contest has been being held since 2003, during which time it has become a reliable aide in the promotion of various high quality products and services of Tatarstan manufacturers, from dairy produce to helicopters, from communication and sanatorium services to innovative educational and medical services, to the republic’s, national and international markets.
