On 5 October 2016, within his trip to Latvia, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting in Riga with Latvian President Raimonds Vējonis.
The extended meeting was also attended by Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov, Aide to the Tatarstan President Radik Gimatdinov, Chief Executive of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina, and others.
Raimonds Vējonis noted that the visit of Tatarstan delegation to Latvia is important for further strengthening of relations in culture, education, and other spheres.
Participants of the meeting discussed issues of interaction and steps for enhancing business contacts.
On 4 October 2016, Tatarstan Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted the first meeting of potential participants of the Tatarstan construction cluster. The event was attended by top officials of the Tatarstan Ministry of Industry and Trade; the Tatarstan Ministry of Economy; the Tatarstan Ministry of Construction, Architecture, Housing and Communal Services; top executives and representatives of construction organisations, construction materials manufacturers, relevant educational institutions, engineering centres, and etc.
During the meeting that was held in the Tatarstan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Kama Centre of Cluster Development made a presentation of the cluster development concept and introduced the functional map and the structure of the governing authority, and the preliminary list of investment projects.
At the end of the presentation, potential participants of the cluster voted for the adoption of the development concept in question and signed an agreement for participation in cluster activities. Participants of the meeting specified the areas for their joint activities within the union being established.
From 5 to 6 October 2016, Tatarstan delegation headed by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov is having a working visit to Latvia.
Within this visit to Riga, it is scheduled that Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov will have meetings with Latvian President Raimonds Vējonis, Latvian Prime Minister Māris Kučinskis, and representatives of Latvian ministries and agencies.
On 6 October 2016, within the Latvian-Tatarstan Business Forum, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov will make a presentation of Tatarstan economic and industrial potential.
The programme of the Tatarstan delegation in Latvia also includes tours of a number of Latvian enterprises and a meeting with Tatar community in Latvia.
On 5 October 2016, an official ceremony of opening the first Shell’s filling station in Kazan was attended by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Executive Vice President of Shell concern Istvan Kapitany.
The first Shell filling station was built by ZAO Yadran-Oil, the partner of the company, and transferred under Shell’s control.
Tatarstan President noted that Shell is a largest global company, which is successfully operating in Russia for major petrochemical projects.
Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated Shell’s top executives on the successful implementation of the project and expressed his hope that these should be the very first steps of the world-famous company here. He assumed that the filling station can become only one of the forms of Shell’s presence in Tatarstan.
On 5 October 2016, Zelenodolsk hosted an official closing ceremony of the summer season “Small-Sized Navigation 2016” at the shore base of the Dolphin yacht club for children and juveniles (belongs to Zelenodolsk Shipyard) in Zelenodolsk. Young sailors were welcomed by representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defence, Zelenodolsk Shipyard, AO Ak Bars Holding Company, Executive Committee of Zelenodolsk District, and VTB 24 Bank in Tatarstan.
The official event comprises the ceremony of lowering the yacht club flag to commemorate the end of the season and a ceremony of awarding yacht club employees who contributed significantly to mentoring children in ward and winners of prizes in regional and republic’s contests. Children and employees were awarded diplomas, letters of gratitude, certificates for purchasing sports goods, as well as memorable gifts.
On 4 October 2016, within his official visit to Astana, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Kazakhstan Prime Minister Bakhytzhan Sagintayev. During the meeting, parties discussed steps for their further interaction in the development of trade and economic relations between Kazakhstan and Tatarstan.
Rustam Minnikhanov said that today Astana hosted an opening ceremony of a new building of Plenipotentiary Representative Office of Tatarstan in Kazakhstan. In turn, Kazan is a home for the Consulate General and the Trade Representative Office of Kazakhstan.
Tatarstan President also outlined prospects for cooperation in humanitarian sphere: in culture, science, and education.
On 4 October 2016, Kazan City Hall hosted an expert session “Looking into the Future. What Will Russia Look Like in 10 Years” that was organised by the Centre for Strategic Research under the guidance by Aleksey Kudrin.
Addressing to organisers and participants of the expert session, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov noted that Tatarstan was selected as one of seven regions in Russia that host expert sessions dedicated to the development of the Strategy of the Russian Federation.
In conclusion, Albert Karimov said that “to date the expert session is attended by representatives of authorities, educational institutions, public, think tanks, enterprises and organisations of the republic, as well as experts, who participated in the development of the Strategy of the Republic of Tatarstan and willing to contribute to the development of the main federal-level document, the Strategy of the Russian Federation”.
On 3 October 2016, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov participated in the meeting between Acting Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Special Representative of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs for development of relations with Russia and Head of the Foundation for Islam Jean-Pierre Chevènement.
The meeting was held in the Tatarstan House of Government. Parties discussed an issue of sharing experience in interreligious interaction.
The project “College of Future Tatarstan” was granted the Aleksandr Pochinok Award within the All-Russian Contest of the Regional Social Development Programmes, which is implemented by the Group of Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant jointly with the Republic of Tatarstan. The project became the winner in the category “Development of Public and Private Partnership in the Social Sphere”. The project aimed at providing qualified blue-collar personnel to Alnas and other Tatarstan mechanical engineering enterprises.
This year, the first batch of students graduated from the College of Future Tatarstan.
On 3 October 2016, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov bestowed a Certificate of Honour from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan to Leading Expert of the Organisational Work Department Tatyana Matveyeva for her conscientious and fruitful work.
