Call for applications for republic’s Engineer of the Year 2021 contest continues

Applications for the Engineer of the Year 2021 contest continues to be accepted in Tatarstan. The contest is held with the support from the Tatarstan President in order to raise public awareness, encourage and spread positive experience of the best republic’s engineers, and increase the attractiveness of engineering work among young people. This is the second time the contest is being held; more than 250 applications from various republic’s enterprises were submitted for the first time.

The contest has three age-based divisions: Future Engineers (engineering students); Youth, Success, Perspective (engineers under the age of 35 years inclusive); Experience, Achievements, Competence (engineers over the age of 35 years).

The contest is held in 12 categories broken down by republic’s industries and will involve 2 stages. The correspondence stage is the application collection campaign and the work of the contest’s expert commission on selecting applications for participation in the on-site stage. The on-site stage is a two-day travelling workshop, which includes master classes, training, testing, and project defences.

The contest winners will be awarded during a festive ceremony with the participation of the Tatarstan President at the end of the year.

The contest may be attended by university students receiving an engineering degree and engineers already working at Tatarstan enterprises: design engineers, production engineers contributing to the development of production processes, lines, etc.

Minnikhanov: some 120,000 work in our mechanical engineering sector today

There are more than 3,000 mechanical engineering enterprises employing about 120,000 people in the republic today. Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said this today in Naberezhnye Chelny at a ceremony dedicated to the Mechanical Engineer’s Day. Before the official ceremony, the President toured an exhibition of products manufactured by Tatarstan’s mechanical engineering companies. The exhibition displayed trucks, buses, tractors, electric cars, charging stations, gas turbine power plants, medical equipment, etc. Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated the industry workers on their professional holiday and stressed that despite all the difficulties, this year there has been a dynamic growth in the indicators of the enterprises. During the first seven months of 2021, products worth RUB 408 billion were shipped, which is 1.5 times higher than in 2019. Positive changes are shown both by large companies and midsize enterprises in small towns. The Tatarstan President also expressed gratitude to long-service workers of the sector, noting that many companies employ several generations of working families. Then, President Minnikhanov presented a number of Tatarstan awards for great contribution to the development of the mechanical engineering sector.

Minister Karimov met with students of KNRTU-KHTI

Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov held an open meeting with students of the Kazan National Research Technological University. During the event, Minister Karimov delivered a comprehensive speech on the topic “Tatarstan’s Manufacturing Industry as the Main Driver of Regional Economic Development”, during which he outlined the main achievements of industrial sectors in Tatarstan and spoke about the main achievements and trends in the republic’s manufacturing industry development. In his welcome address he pointed out that the main source of labour productivity is the transition to Industry 4.0, the industrial revolution based on massive implementation of information technologies. Today, a marking system is applied in production facilities that allows one to track the location of a product. There are examples of smart factories where machines communicate with each other via the internet and produce personalised products without human intervention.
