Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting today with a delegation from the Kyrgyz Republic. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 12th International Economic Summit Russia - Islamic World (KazanSummit 2021) at the Kazan Expo Exhibition Centre.
The Tatarstan President pointed out that the ties between Tatarstan and Kyrgyzstan had considerably expanded lately. In February this year, Rustam Minnikhanov met in Moscow with President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov and in April, with Prime Minister Ulukbek Maripov.
Last year the trade turnover between Tatarstan and Kyrgyzstan exceeded US$41 million. President Minnikhanov said it was necessary to expand interaction in the economic sphere. Priority areas for joint work include petrochemicals, oil refining, mechanical engineering, IT, medicine, pharmaceuticals, science, and education.
Rustam Minnikhanov spoke briefly about Tatarstan and the region’s key economic sectors. “We pay much attention to the development of agriculture, small and medium-sized businesses, and innovative infrastructure. Tatarstan is one of Russia’s leaders in terms of investment climate,” the President said. He added that Tatarstan is ready to share experience with its Kyrgyz colleagues in various areas.
During the meeting the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of digitalisation, education, and development of tourism infrastructure.
