Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the Russian Federation Said Tayeb Jawad.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the issues of developing trade, economic, and humanitarian cooperation within the framework of Russian-Afghanistan relations.
A number of Tatarstan companies have a history of work in Afghanistan, including KAMAZ, Kazan Helicopters, and KER-Holding. The republic is interested in expanding exports of petrochemicals, mechanical engineering and pharmaceutical products.
Economic cooperation has been facilitated through the work of the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group, in which Afghanistan is also represented.
The meeting took place in the Kazan Kremlin. It was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov and Aide to the Tatarstan President Gazinur Bakirov.
