President Minnikhanov held a meeting with the Minister of Industry of the Republic of Belarus on the sidelines of the Innoprom 2021 International Industrial Fair. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov.
The Tatarstan President pointed out that Belarus is one of the Republic’s strategic partners. “Belarus has been consistently ranking among the leading Tatarstan’s foreign trade partners in recent years,” he said.
Tatarstan businesses have a great interest in expanding trade, economic, and investment ties within the Eurasian Economic Union and the development of common transport and logistics potential, said the Tatarstan President.
“A large delegation visited Tatarstan in March to explore the potential of your companies,” said the Minister of Industry of the Republic of Belarus during the meeting. He noted that following the visit, the Belarusian peers are ready to consider options for expanding cooperation in other areas.
According to the Tatarstan Office for Statistics, foreign trade turnover between Tatarstan and Belarus totalled US$ 870.4 million in 2020 (down 16.9 per cent). However, the Q1 2021 showed an increase.
Today more than 60% of all Tatarstan’s agricultural machinery is Belarus-made. Belarusian city buses and trams are also well-proven.
