The volume of waste sent for recycling was twice as much as in 2019. The company itself recycled 130,000 tonnes of wood waste.
The company estimates, that in 2020 Kastamonu sent approximately 700 tonnes of polyethylene and plastic waste, paper and cardboard, as well as ferrous and non-ferrous metal scrap to specialist companies for recycling. In addition, 130,000 tonnes of wood waste were recycled directly at the plant. The recycling equipment installed at the plant allows the company to incinerate its own wood waste in an environmentally friendly manner. This helps to conserve natural resources, as the energy gained from the recycling is used in the production processes.
The production plant is equipped with the latest generation of wastewater treatment facilities, including a multi-stage water recycling system ensuring a closed technical water cycle. The wastewater passes through several stages of treatment - mechanical, chemical, and biological - before being reused in the production process. This saves natural resources and reduces wastewater disposal.
Kastamonu’s environmental policies are multifaceted and include recycling system, transporting waste to recycling facilities, and in-house waste disposal. It also includes funding of environmental events, cooperation with WWF Russia, support and promotion of responsible forest management and certification (FSC and PEFC).
