8th meeting of Belarusian-Tatarstan working group held in the Ministry

The 8th meeting of the Belarusian-Tatarstan Working Group on Cooperation in Trade, Economy, Science and Technology was held today via videoconferencing.

The meeting was attended by the Co-Chairman of the Joint Working Group, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov and Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian part of the Working Group, Chairman of the Belneftekhim Concern Andrey Rybakov, as well as leading enterprises of Belarus and Tatarstan in the field of mechanical engineering and the development of industrial cooperation, petrochemicals, agriculture, ecology, science and innovation.

The meeting participants discussed the progress in the implementation of the agreements reached, as well as subsequent actions in order to deepen interaction in the trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.

The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan stressed that traditionally, the main areas of bilateral cooperation are mechanical engineering, agricultural engineering and production of special equipment, petrochemicals, textiles, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and food supply.

The main exports of Tatarstan to Belarus are fuel, crude oil, and products of its distillation. From Belarus, the main imports are means of transport, vehicles, food products, and textiles. In 2019, the foreign trade turnover between Tatarstan and Belarus amounted to US$ 1.04 billion, of which exports to Belarus accounted for US$ 819 million, and imports to Tatarstan, for US$ 201.4 million.
