15 October 2020, Thursday

Sollers Ford announces plans to relaunch its engine plant located in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone. The plant is expected to produce diesel engines for Ford Transit commercial vehicles. Full-scale engine production is scheduled for 2023.

The engine plant covers an area of 42,600 square metres and is located in close proximity to the Sollers Ford factory. The plant is equipped with advanced hi-tech equipment that meets all the requirements of productivity, environmental friendliness, and safety in accordance with the global standards of the Ford Motor Company.

Production of Sigma 1.6 engines for cars started at the plant in 2015 and was suspended in 2019 following the company’s restructuring. The plant became the first such hi-tech enterprise in Russia with the automation of its production processes reaching 95%.

Ford Transit is one of the most popular LCV vehicles. The choice and loyalty of its customers are due to a number of vehicle’s advantages, such as quality and reliability, low cost of ownership, a high level of service in an official dealer network at an affordable maintenance cost - one of the lowest in the LCV segment - and many others.

Ford Transit production was launched at the Sollers Ford factory in Yelabuga using full-cycle technology, which allows the company to offer Russian customers an up-to-date product adapted to operate in Russian conditions at a competitive price.
