30 September 2020, Wednesday

Today, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan hosted a meeting of the Committee to Combat Illicit Trafficking in Industrial Products in Tatarstan. The participants reviewed the results of work to identify and suppress the illegal traffic in industrial products: automotive equipment, its components, and medicines.

The Tatarstan Office of the Ministry of Interior is taking measures on an ongoing basis to counter the illegal trafficking in industrial products. In the area under consideration, 67 crimes have been identified since the beginning of this year.

Work is also underway to identify and stop the production and sales of counterfeit medical products, medicines, and biologically active additives.

The meeting also showcased the capabilities of customs authorities to identify and stop attempts to move counterfeit goods across the customs border.

In 2019, in the course of work in the field of protecting intellectual property rights, the Federal Customs Service of Russia identified over 12 million counterfeit goods, and prevented damages to copyright holders of intellectual property assets in the amount of more than RUB 8 billion. Most often, automotive parts, toys, perfumery products, and light industry goods were recognised as counterfeit.
