Minister Karimov took part in meeting with DRC delegation

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov had a meeting with members of the delegation of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Within the framework of their programme, members of the DRC delegation visited the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency to attend a presentation of the republic’s economic potential, studied the activities of the Idea Innovation Technopark, visited Eidos-Medicine and Eidos-Robotics centres and the IT Park.

Having greeted the guests, the Tatarstan President said that the region highly appreciates the opportunities of cooperation between Tatarstan and the DRC within the framework of friendly Russian-Congolese relations. This year Russia and Congo celebrate the 60th anniversary since establishment of diplomatic relations.

In general, Rustam Minnikhanov said that there is great potential for developing ties with Congolese companies in such areas as oil refining and petrochemicals, energy, mechanical engineering, automotive sectors, component production, IT and other high technologies, medicine and pharmaceuticals, agribusiness.

In turn, representatives of Congo stated during the meeting that they are ready for close cooperation and expressed interest in studying the experience of Tatarstan as a region of Russia in the creation and development of special economic zones and in the provision of tax benefits to resident companies.
