Associate Professor of the Theoretical Basics of Thermal Technology Department at the Heat Power Engineering Institute (KSPEU) Olga Solovyova won Initiative Research by Young Scientists grant of the Russian Science Foundation (RSF).
The RSF grant on the topic “Developing a Software Package for Calculating the Optimal Parameters of Highly Porous and Granular Filters for Filter Selection in a Specific Technology Cycle” is part of the presidential programme of research projects implemented by leading scientists, including young ones.
The project involves the creation of models for highly porous cellular or granular filters with an increased particle deposition efficiency and a lower value of the aerodynamic drag coefficient, the determination of the optimal filter geometry with due account for the process specifics, the making of recommendations on the selection and use of the filter model, and the creation of a software package implemented as a web application.
Despite the fact that the grant is individual, the project manager notes that work on all projects is carried out in a team: “For me, there is no concept of scientific work alone in the area in which we work. Someone builds computer models, someone carries out calculations, someone sets tasks; we all write articles and speak at conferences. And everything is always discussed together”.
