7th I Opt for the Sky festival gathered citizens to see aviation and pilot skills

The I Opt for the Sky family holiday dedicated to the Day of the Russian Air Fleet took place at the site of the Kazan Family Centre on Sunday. The festival was held for the seventh time gathering about 30,000 people that include Kazan residents and guests, who are not indifferent to airplanes, flights and skies, current and retired employees of the aviation industry, professionals and students.

On the eve of the finals of the WorldSkills Kazan 2019, a ceremony was held at the festival to honour the WorldSkills official flag.

Demonstration flights of military aircraft TU-95, TU-160, TU-22MZ, and TU-214, general aircraft Stinson 108, Cessna 172, Farmer, Roland, Savannah, and helicopters Ansat, Mi-8, An-2, Yak-12, Bell 206B3 gathered the admiring glances of visitors. The Russia’s best parachutists performed accuracy landing jumps. By tradition, the air show featured the performance of the Rus aerobatic team. The pilots demonstrated complicated elements on Aero L-39 Albatros jet trainers.

The event was attended by acting Prime Minister of Tatarstan Rustam Nigmatullin, Long-Range Aviation Commander Sergey Kobylash, Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov, Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin, Chair of the WorldSkills Strategic Development Committee Jos de Goey, and other officials.
