The Kazan State Power Engineering University hosted an open lecture by Timo Mäkelä, Chief Adviser at the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra, on global trends in the circular economy. During the visit, the Finnish guest also had time to talk with KSPEU Principal Edvard Abdullazyanov about the upcoming opening of the Sitra Centre, which is scheduled for autumn 2019. After the lecture, Timo Mäkelä answered several questions from Tatarstan entrepreneurs who were interested in the activities of Sitra.
As a result of the lecture, a meeting was held between representatives of the delegation from Finland and the leadership of the KSPEU, at which the question was raised about the further cooperation between the University and Sitra.
KSPEU as a venue for the event was not chosen by chance. In April this year, an agreement was reached on the establishment of a circular economy centre on the University grounds jointly with Sitra and a number of concerned enterprises from Tatarstan and Finland.
What is more, this agreement was confirmed by Sitra executives during the visit of the official delegation from Tatarstan headed by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov to Finland in June this year. During the visit, the Tatarstan delegation took part in the opening ceremony of the World Circular Economy Forum.
