On February 26, the Ministry hosted the first 2019 meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group on the Development of Pharmaceutical and Medical Industry in Tatarstan. The meeting discussed the issues raised by manufacturers of medical devices and equipment (Kazan Medical Instruments Plant, POZIS Refrigeration Equipment Plant, Medtekhnika, etc.) related to the need to reregister these products by 2021 under the new EAEU rules, which would require significant expenditures of money and time, as well as to the suggestion to abolish the zero VAT rate for domestic products, which would increase their value by 20% and reduce their competitiveness in the market.
The participants to the meeting were also presented the project by the PharmMedPolis of Tatarstan on creating a Medical Industrial Park, the mission of which would be the capacity building in the sector and developing innovative solutions and educational programmes.
Following the results of the meeting, decisions were made on preparing proposals to federal officials to take measures that would reduce the burden on medical industry enterprises, on supporting the PharmMedPolis project, and others.
