The Republic of Tatarstan occupies a leading position in the development of infrastructure and the consumption of CNG, which is the result of the coordinated efforts by republic’s ministries, agencies and enterprises, as well as the successful implementation of the government Programme for the Gas Motor Fuel Market Development in Tatarstan in 2013-2023.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Aleksey Savelchev spoke today at a press conference about the activities carried out within the framework of the gas fuel infrastructure development and the conversion of vehicles to run on gas motor fuel.

As part of the Programme for the Gas Motor Fuel Market Development in Tatarstan in 2013-2023, projects for the conversion of vehicles to run on compressed natural gas are being supported through granting partial subsidies for expenses borne by conversion and maintenance centres during the conversion of vehicles; the subsidy amounts are up to 30% of the nominal conversion costs. Drivers additionally receive a card for 1,500 cubic metres of gas (methane) from the Gazprom Gas Motor Fuel.

By the end of 2018, a total of 1277 vehicles have been converted to gas motor fuel. Altogether, over 5,200 vehicles currently run on compressed natural gas (methane) in Tatarstan.
