On October 24, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov held a business meeting with representatives of the BASF chemical concern. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister Aleksey Savelchev, Head of BASF in Russia & the CIS Christoph Roehrig, Head of Corporate Communications and Government Relations, Russia and CIS at BASF Ivan Glushkov and representatives of the Tatarstan Ministry of Industry and Trade.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for interaction between the German company and Tatarstan. Christoph Roehrig expressed his high interest in locating the concern’s production facilities near the consumers of the chemical products manufactured – in particular, in creating a joint production venture with republic’s enterprises, and noted the high competence level of the workforce from Tatarstan.
Minister Karimov presented the potential of Tatarstan, noting that the republic is one of the leaders in the Russia’s investment attractiveness rating and the goal today is to maintain this status through the development of infrastructure sites, such as the SEZ Alabuga, the SEZ Innopolis, and the Technopolis Himgrad.
Following the event, it was decided to continue the cooperation between BASF and Tatarstan.
