Today, the Tatarstan Ministry of Industry and Trade hosted a meeting of the working group on cooperation in the petrochemical sector between Tatarstan and Belarus. The event was attended by Deputy Minister Aleksey Savelchev, Aide to the Prime Minister of Tatarstan for Petrochemicals Eldar Adeyev, Head of the Kazan Branch of the Embassy of Belarus in Russia Oleg Isaev, top executives and representatives of major Belarusian corporations (Belneftekhim, Belorusneft, Belshina) and petrochemical enterprises of Tatarstan.
During the meeting, the parties expressed mutual interest in retaining the current volumes of petrochemical feedstock and products. The Belarusian side noted the heightened interest in deliveries of petrochemical feedstock from Tatarstan, polymers of Tatarstan-based Nizhnekamskneftekhim and Kazanorgsintez.
At the meeting, a new trend of bilateral interaction was identified. Due to the fact that Tatarstan is the leader among the Russian regions in the development of the gas-engine technology programme, the meeting participants discussed a joint approach to expand cooperation in this field.
In 2017, the foreign trade turnover between Tatarstan and Belarus amounted to over US$ 1 billion, of which imports to Tatarstan were US$ 212.2 million, and exports, US$ 835 million.
