On February 4, pursuant to the decision by the Tatarstan President, a High Alert Regime was announced for State authorities, local governments and enterprises in Tatarstan. The Grid Company has established a 24-hour centre headed by its Technical Director Ilshat Galimzyanov for the prevention and mitigation of emergencies.
On February 5, from 06:00 to the present time, due to unfavourable weather conditions (wet snow, ice rain, snowstorm, ice and strong wind gusting to 19-25 m/s) massive power outages were recorded in 6-10 kV distribution grids.
At 10:00, Tatarstan saw outages in 10 overhead power lines (6-10 kV), 266 transformer substations (6-10 kV) and 72 settlements. The bad weather effects was experienced by residents of the Buinsky, Tetyushsky, Kamsko-Ustyinsky, Zelenodolsky, Vysokogorsky, Pestrechinsky, Arsky, Alekseyevsky, Spassky, and Novosheshminsky districts and the city of Kazan. More than 15,000 people remained without electricity.
A total of 36 teams consisting of 104 people and 36 units of special equipment are involved in the emergency recovery work. It is carried out by professionals from the Buinsk, Kazan, Privolzhsky and Chistopol electrical grids. In order to avoid further risks during climatic loads, preventive measures are also taken in other areas of the republic.
