The trucks of the KAMAZ-Master team successfully passed technical inspections in the French port of Le Havre. The trucks are now in a closed park waiting for loading on the ferry, which tomorrow, on November 30, will lay a course across the Atlantic Ocean for Peru, the starting point of the 2018 Dakar Rally.
The participants of the 2018 Dakar Rally include four crews of the Russian KAMAZ-Master team, led by pilots Eduard Nikolayev, Ayrat Mardeev, Dmitry Sotnikov, and Anton Shibalov. Among this year’s novelties, there is a new 13-litre-engine truck. It was developed by the team in preparation for the Dakar Rally and already proved to be successful during the 2017 Silk Road. In order to comply with new Dakar regulations, which will affect the trucks from January 2019, a six-cylinder in-line engine was installed on this cab-over truck, which resulted in changes in the truck design and appearance.
The jubilee 40th Dakar Rally will be held on January 6 to 20, 2018. The total length of the route will be about 9000 kilometres. Event participants will cross the territories of Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina.
