On 11 October 2016, within the visit of Tatarstan delegation headed by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov to Turkmenistan, the meeting between Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow was held. During the meeting, parties discussed issues of cooperation between Tatarstan and Turkmenistan in trade, economy, science, technology, culture, humanitarian activities, and other spheres.

Turkmenistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry will hold an opening ceremony of Turkmenistan economic achievements’ exhibition dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of its independence.

Tatarstan delegation headed by Tatarstan President will visit a new building of the Russian Embassy in Ashgabat to have a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia in Turkmenistan Aleksandr Blokhin.

In the second half of the day, Ashgabat will host the Turkmenistan-Tatarstan Business Forum. During the forum, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov will make a presentation of Tatarstan economic and industrial potential.

On 10 October 2016, State award of the Republic of Tatarstan, Duslyk Order, was bestowed to the President of Tatarstan Association of Enterprises and Industrialists Aleksandr Lavrentiev by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov. The event was attended by Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov, Director General of Tatarstan Association of Enterprises and Industrialists (regional association of employers) Aleksey Pakhomov, and others.

The award has been bestowed to Aleksandr Lavrentiev for his extensive public activities and contribution to the development of the Republic of Tatarstan.

On 8 October 2016, SEZ Alabuga hosted a working meeting between Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Turkish Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekci. The meeting was attended by Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov, representatives of Tatarstan ministries and agencies, top officials of SEZ Alabuga, and Turkish resident companies at SEZ Alabuga.

Rustam Minnikhanov invited companies from Turkey to participate in infrastructure and logistics projects of Tatarstan.

Participants of the meeting discussed a number of working issues, including availability of raw materials, efficient operation of the transport sector, and other topics.

On 8 October 2016, SEZ Alabuga in Yelabuga District of Tatarstan hosted an official ceremony of commissioning two new plants of Turkey-based Sisecam: Trakya Glass Rus (manufacture of building glass) and Automotive Glass Alliance Rus (manufacture of automotive glass). The event was attended by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Turkish Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekci, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov, top executives of SEZ Alabuga, representatives of government authorities, and representatives of Tatarstan and Turkish business communities.

After the official ceremony, honoured guests made a tour of the production lines of new enterprises and examined samples of ready products.

Tatarstan President, Turkish Minister of Economy, and accompanying persons have also made tours of two other Turkey-built plants at SEZ Alabuga.

From 7 to 8 October 2016, Folk Art House in Nizhnekamsk hosted the 2nd regional stage of the annual open Republic’s Working Youth Creativity TV Festival ‘Nashe Vremya – Beznen Zaman’.

Winners of the regional stage are teams of UK Tatneft-Neftekhim, Education Department of the Executive Committee of Mamadyshsky District and Nizhnekamsk College of Oil and Oil Refining. These teams will compete in super finale of the festival.

On 8 October 2016, within the final presentation of projects under the programme “Management Proficiency: Development of Regional Teams”, Tatarstan participants of the programme presented the project entitled “Developing Exports of Non-Raw Materials in Tatarstan”.

The main objective of the project is to develop non-raw materials exports, promote competitive products to foreign markets, and participate in an international contest. Expected project results are creation of a unified system for exports development, increase in the share of non-raw materials exports, and creation of clear assistance structure for entering foreign markets.

Panel of judges comprised governors of Kaluga Oblast, Novosibirsk Oblast, Tyumen Oblast, Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov, Principal of Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration Vladimir Mau, and others.

On 7 October 2016, within his working visit to Moscow, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Chairman of the Board of PAO Gazprom Aleksey Miller. The meeting was also attended by Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov and Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Informatisation and Communication Roman Shaykhutdinov.

During the meeting, parties discussed issues of cooperation development between Tatarstan and Gazprom.

During the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov and Aleksey Miller signed an Agreement on Scientific and Technical Cooperation and Partnership between Tatarstan and PAO Gazprom. The document is scheduled until the end of 2020 and involves interaction in innovation, information, analysis, and expert spheres using the potential of the Innopolis University. Main areas for cooperation will be creation, development and application of information technologies and robotics in technological processes at mining and gas transportation facilities of Gazprom.

On 7 October 2016, Tatarstan Ministry of Industry and Trade hosted the meeting on practical implementation of provisions of the Federal Law No.275-FZ dated 29 December 2012 “On State Defence Procurement”.

The meeting was attended by Director of the Department for Financial Monitoring of the State Defence Procurement of the Russian Ministry of Defence Olga Osaulenko, Director of the Financial Planning Department of the Russian Ministry of Defence Maksim Loskutov, Deputy Director of the State Defence Procurement Financial Monitoring Department of the Russian Ministry of Defence Svetlana Vasina, Deputy Director of the Department for Financial Support of the Russian Ministry of Defence Oleg Nalimov, top officials and heads of departments of the Tatarstan Ministry of Industry and Trade, representatives of Tatarstan’s defence industry enterprises and financial institutions.

On 6 October 2016, within the visit of Tatarstan delegation to Latvia, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov participated in the meetings between Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Latvian Prime Minister Māris Kučinskis, Latvian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Economics Arvils Ašeradens, and Latvian Minister of Transport and Co-Chairman of the Latvian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic, Scientific, Technical, and Cultural Cooperation Uldis Augulis.

During the meetings parties discussed promising areas for cooperation development between Tatarstan and Latvia in various spheres.

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov suggested considering an opportunity of holding one of the regular sessions of the Latvian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission in Kazan.

On 6 October 2016, within the working visit to Latvia by Tatarstan delegation headed by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, round table discussions “Tatarstan-Latvia: prospects of cooperation” were held with the participation of representatives of authorities and business communities of Tatarstan and Latvia.

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Latvian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Economics Arvils Ašeradens welcomed the participants of the discussions.

Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov made a presentation of Tatarstan industrial potential and characterised the current situation and promising areas of trade and economic cooperation between Tatarstan and Latvia.
