Minister Karimov had a meeting with representatives of a Turkmenistan delegation consisting of experts from the Turkmenistan State Service of Maritime and River Transportation, the State Committee for Water Resources of Turkmenistan and the Balkan Shipbuilding and Repairing Yard.

“We have a huge potential for mutual cooperation. Today’s meeting is aimed not only to sum up our joint work, but this is also an opportunity to outline a work plan for the coming year of 2020”, Tatarstan Minister of Industry and Trade said.

Summing up the partnership between Tatarstan and Turkmenistan, the Minister noted that in the first 9 months of 2019, the foreign trade turnover of the two regions amounted to US$ 65 million.

Also during the meeting, the parties discussed the main aspects of cooperation between the Ak Bars Shipbuilding Corporation and Turkmenistan. On December 23, the delegation from Turkmenistan visited the Zelenodolsk Shipyard, where guests made a tour of a number of production workshops.

This Sunday, Minister Karimov arrived in Turkmenistan as a member of the Tatarstan delegation. The delegation headed by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov came to Turkmenbashi to participate in the First Caspian Economic Forum. The delegation includes representatives of the Tatarstan Ministry of Industry and Trade, industrial enterprises, and related republic’s universities.

The Caspian Economic Forum takes place in the Avaza National Resort Zone and includes several events: an international conference, the Caspian Exhibition of Innovative Technologies, and the signing of treaties, agreements, and contracts.

The Tatarstan delegation attended “The Caspian Sea: Benefits of Strengthening International Economic Cooperation” conference. The next event in Turkmenistan was a visit to the Kiyanly Petrochemical Complex. At the close of the visit, the Tatarstan delegation toured the International Exhibition of Innovative Technology.

It is worth noting that several important cooperation agreements were signed on the sidelines of the Caspian Economic Forum with the participation of such enterprises as OPK Ak Bars, KER-Holding, KAMAZ, Turkmendenizderellary Agency, Balkan Shipbuilding and Repairing Plant, Turkmenhimiya, and others.

Today, the Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers hosted a briefing on the visit to Tatarstan of a Turkmenistan delegation led by Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow. The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov, Tatarstan Minister of Culture Irada Ayupova, and Principal of the Kazan Federal University Ilshat Gafurov.

Cooperation of Tatarstan and Turkmenistan is fruitfully developing in various areas.

On June 22, 2019, the delegation headed by Deputy Chairman of the Turkmenistan Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov arrived in Kazan. The Turkmenistan delegation included heads of relevant ministries and agencies, as well as large state corporations. Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow arrived in Tatarstan on the morning of June 23, 2019.

Government delegations of Tatarstan and Turkmenistan made a tour of the exhibition of industrial enterprises near the Kazan International Airport. Later, a meeting was held in the Kazan Kremlin, with industrial cooperation as the main topic for discussion. Particular attention was paid to the opening of the Consulate General of Turkmenistan in Kazan and increasing the number of flights between Kazan and Ashgabat, which are operated by a Turkmenistan airline.

In conclusion, a number of agreements were signed between the parties.

Today, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Ildar Mingaleyev welcomed Deputy Minister of Textile Industry of Turkmenistan Velamukhammet Shykhgulyev. The meeting was held as part of the Turkmenistan delegation visit to Tatarstan and on the eve of the 6th meeting of the Joint Turkmenistan-Tatarstan working group to be held on May 24 at the Kazan Palace Hotel by Tasigo.

At the meeting, issues of cooperation were discussed between Turkmenistan and light industry enterprises in Tatarstan. Representatives of republic’s light industry companies who were present at the meeting expressed their preparedness to cooperate with Turkmenistan in the field of textile industry, such as purchases of yarn, fabrics, and wool.
