Experts from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan had a meeting with representatives of the Switzerland-based SICPA. The main issue on the agenda was the project for establishing the company’s facilities in SEZ Alabuga.
SICPA specialises in the labelling, authentication, and traceability of products for industries such as consumer goods (tobacco and alcohol), pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, and food products.
In Tatarstan, SICPA is implementing a partnership agreement with the Centre of Expertise in Product Labelling and Monitoring in the areas of Halal food labelling and fuel labelling.
Company’s representatives noted that they plan to organise the production of labelling equipment in the territory of Tatarstan, which will further facilitate the export of Halal products to local producers.
According to Bari Murtazin, SICPA Director for Strategic Development in Russia, the Halal product labelling project is an IT project that will allow tracking products from the manufacturer to the consumer.
In follow-up to the meeting, the parties decided to create a working group to coordinate joint efforts, and to sign a roadmap in the future to indicate specific steps for the project implementation.
