December 9 is observed around the world as the International Anti-Corruption Day. On this day in 2003, the United Nations Convention against Corruption was opened for signature in the Mexican city of Merida. Russia was among the first countries to sign this document.

The provisions of this Convention are especially important at the current stage of the country’s development, as the corrupt practices of individuals are detrimental to national welfare.

With respect to civil servants, the Federal Law “On the State Civil Service in the Russian Federation” regulates, among other things, their rights and obligations, as well as prohibitions and restrictions related to state civil service.

As part of this event on December 9, 2019, the Ministry’s employees was addressed by a representative of the Tatarstan Presidential Board for Anti-Corruption Policies, Chief Adviser to the Anti-Corruption Monitoring Department Aleksander Lokhotskoy.

The invited expert spoke about what constitutes corrupt behaviour, as well as about the concepts of personal interest and conflict of interest.
