Kazan Helicopters of the Russian Helicopters Holding (part of Rostec Corporation) received a manufacturer’s certificate for serial production of Mi-38, the latest civilian helicopter, from the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviation). The first rotorcraft will be delivered to the customer before the end of this year.

Due to the technical solutions employed, the helicopter surpasses other peers in its class in terms of maximum payload, passenger capacity, and key performance indicators. With a maximum take-off weight of 15.6 tonnes, the helicopter is capable of taking 5 tonnes of payload on board or on an external sling. The passenger version of Mi-38 can carry up to 30 people.

The helicopter’s flight range in the transport configuration with additional fuel tanks is up to 1000 kilometres. Mi-38 is equipped with new domestically-made engines, wreck-resistant fuel system, and additional landing gear for soft ground and steep snow landing.

“This year, the Kazan Helicopters manufactured its first civilian Mi-38 with a luxury cabin, which these days takes part in the Dubai Airshow. The certificate obtained from the Federal Air Transport Agency confirms that the company is prepared for serial supply of these helicopters for both commercial operators and governmental customers”, said Managing Director of Kazan Helicopters Yuri Pustovgarov.
