Today, the city of Naberezhnye Chelny hosted ceremonies dedicated to the Mechanical Engineer’s Day 2019.
The festive programme began with an exhibition of achievements by Tatarstan’s mechanical engineering enterprises. A street display featured vehicles manufactured by KAMAZ, ElAZ, RariTEK, MTZ-Tatarstan, and other enterprises. At the exhibition site, MTZ-Tatarstan presented the Tractor Dance musical number for spectators: tractors of Belarus-80X and Belarus-320.4 models danced around to music. The indoor mechanical engineering display was located in the Organ Hall.
In the evening, a festive programme was organised for guests with vocal and choreographic concert numbers and speeches by official persons.
According to the event’s tradition, awards were presented to current and retired employees, labour dynasties of machine builders, and the best young engineers. The award ceremony was attended by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov, Mayor of Naberezhnye Chelny Nail Magdeyev, and other guests of honour.
In January to August 2019, the Republic’s mechanical engineering sector shipped goods, performed jobs, and rendered services in the total amount of RUB 311.1 billion (101% y-o-y).

Today, as part of the celebrations of the Mechanical Engineer’s Day in Naberezhnye Chelny, the bust to the first Director General of KAMAZ, Lev Vasiliev, was officially opened at 2 Avtozavodskoy Prospekt of the city.
Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov addressed the guests with a welcoming speech noting the invaluable contribution of Lev Vasiliev to the development of the city:
“Vasiliev is not only the history of the plant. During his ruling, the city, from a settlement of 30,000 people, grew up to 300,000 people with schools, streets, hospitals...”
Lev Vasiliev is a public official and industrial figure, a Hero of Socialist Labour, and Director General of the KAMAZ Production Association from 1969 to 1981. On February 7, 2020 Leo Vasiliev will turn 95 years old; he is still full of life and energy and lives in Moscow.
Today, Minister Karimov and top executives of industrial enterprises take a tour of the new production lines of the KAMAZ Cab Frame Plant.
After the tour, Naberezhnye Chelny saw the discussion of the issues of digitalisation at republic’s industrial enterprises. The workshop was chaired by Albert Karimov with the participation of Director General of KAMAZ Sergey Kogogin and the heads of major enterprises in Tatarstan.
Director of the Digital Technologies Department at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia Vladimir Dozhdev spoke about measures to support enterprises under the Digital Industry programme. He stated that three Tatarstan enterprises expect to receive financial support for the development of their digital solutions.
Representatives of KAMAZ presented the measures for the development of digital design systems and a data-based decision support system. In addition, the event focused on the introduction of digital manufacturing using the example of Reell Engineering, on big data and on supply chain management in the automotive industry by Logio RUS.
At the close of the event, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Almaz Khusainov described the benefits of participating in the Labour Productivity and Employment Support national project and told the audience about the CCIP, a corporate programme to improve competitiveness within the framework of the International Cooperation and Exports national project.
