Today, the Gorky Zelenodolsk Shipyard saw a keel-laying ceremony for a Project 22800 small missile ship named “Typhoon”. The event was attended by Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Nikolay Yevmenov, Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Albert Karimov, and other officials.

The ceremony was held at the festively decorated yard of Workshop No. 17.

Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy opened the event with his speech: “I am glad that I had the honour to visit hospitable Tatarstan and attend the keel-laying ceremony of another Project 22800 small missile ship, “Typhoon”, at the oldest and merited shipyard... I note that the Russian Navy today is at the stage of its active development, the full-scale construction of small and large displacement ships is underway, which would allow us to have self-sufficient surface forces”.

By tradition, the event ended with the award ceremony of the company’s employees who made a significant contribution to the building of ships for the Russian Navy.

Project 22800 small-sized missile ships are multipurpose missile-artillery vessels of small displacement designed to operate in the close-in maritime zones. The tasks of Project 22800 small missile ships are to perform combat operations in green waters and to participate in the peacetime missions.
