Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov had a meeting with Consul General of Turkey in Kazan İsmet Erikan. The meeting was also attended by Commercial Attaché of the Turkish Consulate General İsmet Özkan.

Welcoming the guests, the Minister noted the successful development of relations between Tatarstan and Turkey. In 2018, foreign trade turnover amounted to more than US$ 300 million, which is an increase of 4% compared to the previous year.

According to the Consul General, “Tatarstan has a separate place in Turkey’s foreign economic relations. Our companies are satisfied with their work and stay in Tatarstan”. He said that Turkish companies that opened their production facilities in Tatarstan had long-term plans for investing in the republic. İsmet Erikan also spoke about other promising areas of cooperation between Tatarstan and Turkey: “We have preferential investment areas: first of all, petrochemicals. However, trade and economic relations between Tatarstan and Turkey should be bilateral, so we invite Tatarstan companies to implement their investment projects in Turkey”.

Minister Karimov said that the bilateral nature of cooperation is a priority for the republic: “In Tatarstan, the International Cooperation and Exports national project is currently underway, which, in particular, provides support for investment projects being implemented abroad”.
