Chengdu (Sichuan Province, PRC) hosted the closing ceremony of the Russian-Chinese Youth Forum in the Volga-Yangtze format on the area in front of the Giant Panda Breeding Research Base. The ceremony was attended by Representative Plenipotentiary of the Russian President in the Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich and member of PRC State Council Yang Jiechi.

Youth cooperation is one of the priority areas in the Volga-Yangtze format. Interuniversity student exchange develops steadily; The youth from Russia and China study each other’s languages. For the last two years, the amount of students studying Chinese in Volga region universities increased by 3 times.

The participants of the forum shared their impressions with the members of Russian and Chinese official delegations, which comprised the officials of all the regions in the Volga-Yangtze format. They also painted in the details about the rich events programme.

In the end of the event, the Representative Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the Volga Federal District invited youth representatives from China to attend the regular youth forum in Volga Federal District in 2016.

 

In 2019, the WorldSkills Competition is to be held in Kazan. That decision was made on 10 August 2015 during the meeting of the WorldSkills Competition General Assembly that was held in São Paulo, Brazil.

The presentation about Kazan, as a candidate city from Russia to host the Professional Skills Championships WorldSkills Competition 2019 was attended by Interim Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov. During the meeting, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets, President of WorldSkills Russia Pavel Chernykh, Director General of Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation Sergey Kirienko and other officials took the floor during the presentation.

Paris (France) and Charleroi (Belgium) also fought for the right to host the WSC-2019.

 

On 10 August 2015, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Ravil Zaripov attended the meeting between Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia in Russia Paul Mailer. The parties discussed the issues of supporting and strengthening their relations in various areas.

While greeting the guests, the Tatarstan Prime Minister pointed out that our cooperation should not be limited by such spheres as sports and culture, but cover the economy as well. Ildar Khalikov also said that we have to find the areas of common interest that will lead to establishing and strengthening the relations between Australia and Tatarstan.

On 9 August 2015, Tatneft Arena in Kazan hosted the closing ceremony of the 16th FINA World Championships. During the official closing ceremony, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that Kazan proved its readiness to host any sport competitions of international level.

The closing ceremony of the 16th FINA World Aquatics Championships was attended by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, President of FINA (International Swimming Federation) Julio Maglione, Chairman of the Russian State Duma Sergey Naryshkin, Interim Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Russian Minister of Sport Vitaly Mutko, Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev, Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov, and others.

 

On 7 August 2015, during his working visit to the People’s Republic of China, Representative Plenipotentiary of the Russian President in Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich chaired the meeting with the representatives of the Hubei Province business community. Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Ravil Zaripov also attended the meeting.

The Representative Plenipotentiary of the Russian President in the Volga Federal District emphasised that the development of interregional trade and economic relations is the priority area of the Volga-Yangtze format.

It was noted during the meeting that the range of measures to create favourable conditions for foreign investors are being implemented in all the regions of the Volga Federal District.

The members of the delegation from the Volga Federal District answered the questions of Chinese businessmen and expressed their hope that this meeting would give a new impetus to build up business relations between Russian and Chinese entrepreneurs.

On 6 August 2015, Interim Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov chaired the meeting dedicated to the issues of gas-engine infrastructure development using the liquefied natural gas. The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Board and Director General of OOO Gazprom Gas-Engine Fuel Mikhail Likhachyov, Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of Staff of the Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers Shamil Gafarov, officals from the Tatarstan ministries and agencies, and others.

During the meeting, OOO Gazprom Gas-Engine Fuel presented the project on construction of liquefied natural gas (LNG) production complex and CryoAZS chain (cryogenic filling stations) in the republic. Tatarstan is to become the first region of Russia to build an integrated production and marketing infrastructure using LNG.

The participants of the meeting noted that implementing of the project will lead to economic efficiency and competitiveness of transport enterprises, tax revenues to the regional budget, new jobs, and environmental improvement.

On 6 August 2015, the delegation from Volga Federal District had a working visit to China. The delegation was headed by Representative Plenipotentiary of the Russian President in Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich. One of the members of the delegation was Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Ravil Zaripov. The delegation attended the opening ceremony of the House of Russian-Chinese Cultural Exchange in Wuhan (Hubei province, PRC). The cultural site makeover was done by the Chinese with the assistance of the Russian experts on refurbishment and temple wall paintings. The refurbishment by the Chinese side amounted to 47 million renminbi (about RUB 265 million). The House of Russian-Chinese Cultural Exchange will be operating as a part of the temple.

On 7 August 2015, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Ravil Zaripov attended the 4th Round table discussions between the heads of the Volga Federal District and the Upper and Middle Yangtze provinces.

 

In accordance with the Decree by the Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers dated 25 July 2015 No. 542 and the Resolution by the Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers dated 28 July 2015 No. 1643-r, the 1st Republic’s Festival-Contest ‘National Trademark of the Republic of Tatarstan’ is being held in the Kazylyk nomination (meat processing products).

The aim of the festival is to select and promote the best samples of high-quality organic food products that meet the requirements of the Voluntary Certification System ‘National Trademark of the Republic of Tatarstan’, consumers, and retailers. Leading Russian producers of food products and the participants of the food market infrastructure are welcome to participate in the festival.

On 5 August 2015, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Ravil Zaripov attended the meeting between Interim Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and the top executives of Jinggong International Group Co. LTD (China).

Rustam Minnikhanov noted that to date a big amount of China-based companies are located in Tatarstan. For example, China-based companies work at OAO Ammoni in Mendeleyevsk, at OAO KAMAZ in Naberezhnye Chelny. The China-based Haier company is planning to open the production facilities to manufacture household appliances at KIP Master. China-based companies also take part in implementing the construction project of high-speed Moscow-Kazan railway.

As for development of partnership relations between Tatarstan and China-based companies, Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan established the Trade and Economic Representative Office in China and now is considering the issue of opening Consulate General of People’s Republic of China in Kazan.

 

During their two-days visit to PAO KAMAZ, the delegation from Tutaev Motor Plant will learn about KAMAZ production system. The executives and workshops’ heads from the Tutaev Motor Plant attended the introductory seminar dedicated to lean production technologies. The guests visited the General Directorate of KAMAZ and the Resource Protection Department. They also made a tour of the Automobile Plant, where they learned how to use lean technologies at various areas and saw the training and production class and the main assembly line.

On 5 August, the representatives of Tutaev Motor Plant attended the workshop at Process Plant located in the Engine Factory.
