Dear current and former workers of the defence industry! On behalf of the Government of Tatarstan and on my personal behalf, I congratulate you on your professional holiday, the Gunsmith’s Day!

Throughout the history of our country, the selfless work of the best professionals in the industry has ensured the creation of weapons that are superior to foreign counterparts. We are rightfully proud that during the Great Patriotic War, Tatarstan was a largest manufacturer of military equipment and products.

Today, workforce of republic’s defence industry enterprises carries on the honoured traditions of their predecessors, and increase the glory of Russian weapons. The defence enterprises in our republic are upgrading production facilities, developing new competitive products, training highly skilled personnel, doing everything needful to reliably protect our Motherland and strengthen its defence capabilities.

I am confident that using the accumulated scientific potential and introducing advanced technologies, the developers and creators of domestic military equipment and weapons will successfully cope with the implementation of the tasks facing the industry. I wish current and retired employees of the republic’s defence industry health, prosperity, and new achievements for the benefit of Tatarstan and Russia!

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan German Lerner, had a meeting today with representatives of the DaEvet online trading platform. The sides discussed issues relating to bilateral cooperation in the field of light industry.

DaEvet is an international B2B online trading platform which connects buyers from all over Russia with Turkish suppliers as well as buyers from all over Turkey with Russian producers of goods. The company’s mission is to provide a trading platform for small and midsize businesses, large businesses, and individual entrepreneurs.

Tatarstan’s foreign trade turnover with Turkey was approximately USD 361 million in 2020 and over USD 220 million in the first half of 2021, which shows significant potential for growth this year.

Enterprises from Tatarstan are intensively developing cooperation with the Republic of Turkey. These are KAMAZ, Tatneft, TAIF, and many others.

Cooperation in the light industry is also one of the priority areas of cooperation between Tatarstan and Turkey.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed mutual interest in continuing close contacts to promote topical issues of mutually beneficial cooperation.

The Board of Directors of PAO Tupolev (part of United Aircraft Corporation, Rostec Corporation) elected Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov as its Chairman.

The face-to-face meeting of the Board of Directors was held today at the Gorbunov Kazan Aviation Plant, a branch of PAO Tupolev.

“I would like to thank you for your trust. For us, the Kazan Aviation Plant is a strategic enterprise. I am confident that together with our UAC and Rostec colleagues we will ensure the effective work of the aircraft sector in the interests of the Russian Federation,” said Rustam Minnikhanov.

In turn, Director General of the United Aircraft Corporation Yuri Slyusar stressed that Tupolev, which has competences in development and construction of strategic aircraft, now performs a large amount of work. “The main efforts are concentrated on the large-scale project to resume serial production of the Tu-160 at the Kazan Aviation Plant. In this regard, our cooperation with the republic’s authorities and full support of regional leaders are extremely important for us,” said Yuri Slyusar. 

In addition, the meeting of the Board of Directors reviewed the financial and economic performance of the company, the performance of current contracts under the State Defence Order, and readiness for future government contracts.

Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov had a meeting with Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg Vladimir Knyaginin. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Education and Science of Tatarstan Ilsur Khadiullin, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Aleksey Savelchev, and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Marat Minibayev.

During the meeting, they discussed the partnership between Tatarstan and St. Petersburg in the areas of new and alternative energy, green chemistry and new materials, electric mobility and other promising areas of technology development.

St. Petersburg is one of republic’s most promising and reliable partners. There is a huge potential for cooperation in joint projects in the field of industry and energy, healthcare and tourism, youth policy and sports, management of territorial entities.

Representatives of the Tatarstan side shared with their St. Petersburg colleagues the experience of the Kazan State Power Engineering University and the Kazan National Research Technological University, which have helped introduce advanced technologies into the economy of the city.

The participants to the meeting agreed to hold a number of events aimed at developing bilateral cooperation in science, education, and innovation technologies.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov had a videoconference meeting today with Khurram Teshabaev, Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current situation, problematic issues, as well as prospects for bilateral cooperation in oil and gas, mechanical engineering, investment, transport and logistics, and other areas.

Current projects include an industrial park to be established in the Tashkent region jointly with Himgrad. This year, the project received a new impetus thanks to the support of the leaders of Uzbekistan and Tatarstan.

POZIS is interested in further expansion of supplies of medical equipment to Uzbekistan, including refrigeration equipment for storage of coronavirus vaccines and medical devices designed for disinfection of indoor air.

Since 2017, Eidos-Medicine has been working on the implementation of projects to establish simulation centres at higher medical institutions in Uzbekistan. To date, a pilot project on the basis of the Tashkent Paediatric Institute is being developed.

The parties agreed to continue further work on all above projects and areas of cooperation, as well as to consider the opportunity of organising the next summit event in the near future.

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting today with Acting Governor of the Ulyanovsk Oblast Aleksey Russkikh. The meeting that took place at the Kazan Kremlin was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Albert Karimov.

Rustam Minnikhanov said that today Tatarstan and the Ulyanovsk Oblast have extensive trade and economic ties. Ulyanovsk purchases gasoline and diesel fuel, tyres, trucks, chemical products, fertilisers, mixed fodder, sheet glass, and much more. Tatarstan imports trucks and cars, buses, cement, roofing materials, agricultural products, and forge and press equipment from the Ulyanovsk Oblast.

“We have good prospects for building up trade and economic ties, taking into account transport accessibility, similar industries and agriculture. Our companies are ready to actively develop partnership in various areas,” the President said.

The sides discussed issues of strengthening cooperation in mechanical engineering, aircraft engineering, digitalisation, education and science, tourism and culture.

Rustam Minnikhanov especially thanked the Acting Governor for support to Tatars living in the Ulyanovsk Oblast, about 150,000 people.

The Tatarstan President also presented Aleksey Russkikh with a medal in honour of the 100th anniversary of the TASSR.

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting today with Uzbekistan Minister of Innovation Development Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov. The meeting took place at the Kazan Kremlin.

During his visit to Kazan, Minister Abdurahmonov will take part in the 24th TCI Global Conference 2021 and visit Technopolis Himgrad, Kazan Federal University, and Innopolis IT city.

Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan and Uzbekistan have good opportunities for cooperation in the field of innovative development. He stressed that Tatarstan is one of the most economically developed, sustainable, and innovative regions of Russia. Particular attention has been paid to the development of information technologies.

According to President Minnikhanov, the republic’s innovation infrastructure is represented by the Himgrad Technopolis, a network of technology parks, industrial parks, priority social and economic development areas, and the Tatarstan Nanotechnology Centre.

“Many of our projects are being implemented in cooperation with foreign partners. We should also intensify cooperation in the field of innovative development,” Rustam Minnikhanov added.

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin visited Technopolis Himgrad today.

As part of the visit, Rustam Minnikhanov toured the production facilities of the Technopolis residents and studied the activities of Indever (production of polymeric compressors), IC Precezia (production of technical equipment for monitoring and evaluation of bulk volumes), RMD (setting up a laboratory to study the properties of various materials and test aircraft structures), IE Sofyina E.N. (production of mattresses), and Eidos-Robotics (technology for test systems to detect Covid-19).

Then, the President walked around the outdoor display of resident companies’ products. Mini-tractors, landscaping objects d’art, 3D-printed benches, boats, metering systems for petrochemicals, and car audio equipment were presented there.

On the premises of Avtomaster, a company producing automotive components, Rustam Minnikhanov held a meeting with staff of companies based in Himgrad. The Tatarstan President stressed that hi-tech production facilities are being developed today in Technopolis, and the products manufactured meet the latest requirements.

Afterwards, Rustam Minnikhanov presented a number of Tatarstan awards to Himgrad top executives and representatives of various companies.

At the end of his visit to Technopolis, the Tatarstan President visited Danaflex-Nano, which manufactures flexible packaging materials and polymeric films.

The National Labour Productivity Project has been implemented in Tatarstan since 2018. During this time, 128 enterprises have joined the project. The republic has ambitious goals of involving 249 enterprises by 2024, so the Regional Competence Centre of Tatarstan regularly holds events to inform potential business participants.

In August 2021, the RCC of Tatarstan launched a series of face-to-face meetings and videoconferences with corporate representatives of the republic’s districts. So, on August 18, a meeting on the National Project was organised in the Executive Committee of the Vysokogorsky Municipal District. The meeting was mainly attended by enterprises of food and mechanical engineering industries.

Representatives from RCC of Tatarstan and Deputy Head of Executive Committee for Economics Murad Bulgakov explained to the district’s enterprises the terms and conditions of joining the National Project and advantages of the support measures provided by Government.

Moreover, the mechanism of targeted support for increasing productivity, which is implemented by experts of RCC of Tatarstan, was disclosed in details. The attendees were able to learn about the results of the enterprises in the Vysokogorsky District, OOO Polygran and OOO Safplast.

In the course of his working trip to Naberezhnye Chelny, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited the KAMAZ main assembly line and met with its employees.

President Minnikhanov said that despite difficulties related to the pandemic, the company was demonstrating growth of financial indicators, and the plant was working hard to upgrade its production facilities.

During the meeting, the factory employees inquired about the prospects for exporting KAMAZ’s products. Rustam Minnikhanov noted that a promising foreign market for the Chelny-based giant is Central Asia: Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. There are also plans to develop cooperation with Turkey. “In addition, we have good demand in the domestic market. Today, KAMAZ is a brand in the domestic mechanical engineering sector,” stressed the Tatarstan President.

Rustam Minnikhanov also gave a brief account of the socio-economic situation in the region. “This year we are doing quite well, better than in 2019. We expect a GRP growth rate of 3.5% and even more. KAMAZ has a big share in the republic’s economy. We are implementing 44 republic’s programmes. And we plan to maintain all volumes next year,” the President added.

As part of his visit to KAMAZ, Rustam Minnikhanov visited the press-frame plant where he saw the retrofitting process of the automatic side-bar production line, paint line, and frame assembly conveyor.
