The 50,000th Ford Kuga smart crossover came off the production line of the Ford Sollers facility in Yelabuga. The vehicle is equipped with such technologies as Lane Keeping Aid, SYNC 3 multimedia system with an improved 8" touchscreen, and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The vehicle is also equipped with the ERA-GLONASS emergency response system.

The production of the renewed Ford Kuga vehicle was launched at the Ford Sollers plant in Yelabuga in late 2016. By the start of the smart crossover production, the equipment in production departments underwent some retrofitting, and new testing and quality control technologies have been introduced. Today, in addition to the Ford Kuga crossover, the company manufactured the Ford Explorer off-road vehicle, and maintains a full-cycle production of Ford Transit commercial vehicles. The production of Ford-branded vehicles in the Yelabuga Plant began in early 2012; the total number of Ford vehicles produced to date is about 115,000.

In the first half of 2017, the Kuga smart crossover became the most sold Ford- branded model with a total of 2,138 vehicles; sales in March grew by 21% compared to the previous month.
