Rosstandart to check accuracy of household blood pressure devices nationwide

8 February 2019, Friday

On February 11, the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart) and its regional offices will conduct the all-Russian social (charitable) campaign titled “Be sure! Be healthy!” dedicated to the World Day of the Sick.

The purpose of this campaign is to convey to the residents of Russia the importance of regularly checking the accuracy of household blood pressure monitors in order to prevent cardiovascular diseases.

On this day, experts from the Rosstandart office in Tatarstan will receive citizens free of charge to check the output parameters of their household blood pressure monitors.

“Today, the population has a large number of measuring instruments for medical purposes: blood pressure monitors, thermometers, blood glucose meters, and their number is increasing every year. With their aid, people tend to control their own health. However, such devices must be periodically checked for measurement errors, and if they exceed the permissible level, the device is faulty and can give a false impression of the state of human health. However, the timeliness of medical care may depend on the measurement results of the tonometer”, said Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
