27 December 2017, Wednesday

For the first time in the history of the Russian power industry, the replacement of the electricity pylon has been made on the 10 kV live overhead line. The innovative technical solution was developed by the Buinsk Electric Networks (branch of Grid Company) jointly with experts from the Centre for Live-Line Working.

Power engineers replaced the defective wooden pole No. 26 at the 10 kV Buinsk-Kildurazy overhead line (110 kV Buinsk substation) for a reinforced concrete pylon. The work was made by a team of electricians from the Buinsk Power Distribution Zone using a mobile lift device with insulating arm and special equipment.

The experts of the Grid Company began to revive the live-line working practices in 2009. Initially, the task was to master the operations on 0.4 kV live lines. As of today, 88 teams of electricians in 9 company’s branches works with 0.4 kV overhead lines. This year, training started for live-line working on 10 kV lines; 16 teams have been trained, for which protection equipment and special equipment were purchased.
