Russian Prime Minister approved creation of three new PDAs in Tatarstan

25 December 2017, Monday

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree on the creation of 6 priority development areas (PDAs), including Zelenodolsk, Nizhnekamsk, and Chistopol.

“We expect that these PDAs will attract investments in the regions totalling almost RUB 50 billion, but most importantly, what we talked about at a meeting that I held last week is, that it can be a ray of hope in the development of these regions, these individual settlements, which would create a more favourable investment environment or at least create some kind of business activities”, said Dmitry Medvedev.

The Prime Minister noted that obtaining a new status would allow mono-towns to create new jobs and reduce dependence on their city-forming enterprises. In addition to mono-towns of Tatarstan, this status was granted to Kotovsk in the Tambov Region, Nevinnomyssk in the Stavropol Territory, and Kondopoga in Karelia.
